Bring It On!

Welcome to my blog. Sewing is my passion. I also enjoy the designing aspect, from that first pen-to-paper drawing, to the finished design, I never know what the end result will be.

The simpler designs, like bookmarks, I sew-as-I-go. Designs around buildings & villages started with St James Hospital in Leeds, after a spell with Lung cancer (I'm well again if you're wondering.) Then came Kirstall Abbey design, my latest was the Priest House & Barden Tower at Bolton Abbey, for a private collection.

After sewing for 50+years I realized I needed something new & fresh. Sewing things like John Constable's "The Hay Wain,"takes too long & would be to expensive. I needed simple, colourful& artistic images of buildings & villages.

My hope is to put a bit of sparkle back into embroidery. Some people see it as old-fashioned & boring or just girlie. As it happens, many of my customers are men, glad to find something unusual in connetion with their passions, sports or rugby. I have designed Leeds United Football & Leeds Rhino's emblems & many other sports emblems for this purpose. The girls seem to have a harder time & it saddens me when they ask, What's your style? Is it cross stich or something else? I tell them " I'm trying to modernize cross stitch or embroidery, using any stitching method needed for the design be it: Cross, Half & Quater, Satin, Stem, Running, Feather, Knotted or Back stitch. If there was such a thing as "Forward" Stitch, I certainly be using that too! As this is a new endevour I would love any feed back, ideas & suggestions be it good or bad, it all counts.
